Am I being Parranoid about smoking ??

Its been something on my mind and i know that when a new baby comes into the family everyone just wants to hold it.But a couple of my aunts and uncles smoke and i dont want them to hold my baby , I dont know how i would explain it without them taking offence but at the end of the day i wouldnt sit next to them purely because they smoke and smell like fag smoke so why should my baby. No one will be smoking around my little boy im very clear about that!!I feel like im going to have to lie and everytime i know the question is approaching ill have to pretend hes getting ready for a feed xx

  • You could ask them not to smoke before they come see you and your baby if they want to hold them as lingering smoke can be harmful... not sure how bad it is exactly but I'm sure they won't either ;) xx

  • I've been told that after someone has a smoke they still release the chemicals from that fag for a whole hour after they have smoked it. So I would explain this to your family and say for that reason if they are willing to wash there hands, brush their teeth and take of their jacket then they can hold him but not otherwise because it can be harmful to your son. I have the same problem and its even worse cos my bf is a smoker but he has already agreed to wear a smoking jaket and wash his hands after every fag. xx
