college
Im not sure if i will be able to carry on with my course next year as its going to cost a thousand and something, im on benefits. But i also dont know if i will be funded for childcare as i will be 19, and my son will be 2. So this post really is to ask if any1 has any tips on saving money?? As if i cant do the course next year, i still want my son to go nursery which is £30 a day from 10am til 5pm plus lunch + tea money £3.30 it all adds up :/ i want him to carry on going because hes mixing in with other kids plus learning stuff, and plus he loves going to nursery and i will feel bad if for what ever reason i didnt have the money for him to go. So i need to started saving asap.
First i need to work out how many days, and hours a week i want him to do or rather that i can afford lol, and also work out the cost. As if im paying myself they want £50 upfront then pay monthly. i would also like to get driveing so we dont have to walk home in the dark like we are having to do at the moment
benefits im getting:
child benefit £20.30 a week
child tax credit £ 59 something a week
and income surpport £135 something every two weeks
i live with my nan so i only pay her £40 a week
then at the moment im paying out for shoes and cloths for me and my son which i surpose is not helping as i really need to save that money, but then we also need decent cloths that fit and shoes. My nan says its because im paying for my son to have clarks shoes, not being funny but he needs decent shoes.
Any advice would be much appreciated?? xx
@kelz2010xx That's what my mum has always said about Clark shoes; they may be expensive but they're really good for little ones as they are fitted and good quality. They do tend to be expensive though. Maybe look into a child minder as you may find they are cheaper than a nursery and he will still be getting experience with other children (my mum is one and you can use nursery vouchers with childminders). If your not going to college then look into getting a job, especially if Finley is already in nursery as that will mean not having to figure out child care around work. If your working, you can get childcare vouchers where they take a certain amount off your pay cheque before the tax is taken off so it costs you less, and you may get working tac credits depending on the hours and pay your getting weekly. For clothes, see if anyone you know has some which they don't need any more because as long as they aren't worn out and are still decent, no one will be able to tell and you will be paying less or possibly nothing if they are from friends and family. Look online as well; ebay, gumtree, freecycle, etc. xx
