We really need help!
Me and my partner are both supposedly going to college in September for full times courses. I'm doing alevels whereas he's doing a public services course, we both applied and got in before Christmas. Noah also got into the creche there, it's 5 minutes round the corner and ideal! Recently we were told because we're on JSA, only one of us can go?! They said our only option is that I go whereas my partner stays at home on JSA or finds a job.. otherwise if we both go, we'll have no benefits whatsoever. That means we wouldn't be able to buy food, have our housing benefits etc.. Am I the only one that doesn't think this is right and really unfair?! I'm hoping I don't sound ungrateful or spoilt but we're in bits
My fiance's wants to join the police force (he's still only 19) and has interviews for being a special and everything.. We didn't have a problem for months, all our benefits knew about it etc and only recently have they decided to put this on us! There are no good part time courses and we've both really been looking forward to these courses for months! I thought if we had a joint income support claim that would work? I don't really know, I'm not very good with all these benefits, especially as we're told different things all the time! We've contacted the college and somebody is going to ring us to help us out and I'm going to make an appointment with connexions but has anybody got any ideas about this? Is it true he wouldn't be able to go? or is there something we can do? Would really appreciate any help :'( xx
The laws around benefits and eductation are atrocious, so it wouldnt suprise me. I was going to suggest Connexions, or go to the job centre and ask to speak to someone. You may have to make an appointment. Do you live together? xxx
