I chose to breastfeed because it was what was best for her, and everyone kept telling me what a wonderful bond it gives you with your child - and it's the best feeling in the world knowing your body is giving your baby the best!
Plus I love mummy & baby time... magical!
I got thrush in my boobs when she was about 2 weeks old - I think that hurt more than labour to be honest! But I stuck at it and now she's 8 weeks old I'm still a VERY proud breastfeeder!
We too use formula now and then so my boyfriend can feed her when I need to rest. I would prefer to express my milk and have him feed her that way, but electric pumps are SO expensive! x

I didn't get to choose whether to breastfeed, I was told not to. I have hyperthyroidism and the meds i'm on would be poisonous to a child and if i don't take them then I would get very sick and probably die so not many options there!
With my second they found me a different drug but it was making me very ill during pregnancy so it was suggested that i go back to my other one once she was born. There were problems with my blood clotting and my veins all shut down so i had to stay very still with a drip in my hand, if i moved it it stopped working and i couldn't hold her to feed so she had to have formula. When i got home i tried to bf her but all she would do is lay there, mouth on my nipple and sleep and if i took it out she would cry :| but she wouldn't even try to feed from it!
I don't plan anymore children so I won't say I'd bf in the future but I do wish I'd had a better chance at trying!

I said from when I was pregnant I would definitely breastfeed and was determined not to give Heidi formula milk.. Then after she was born, after the first few feeds she really didnt take to breastfeeding (and I wasn't too keen on it) and the midwives at the hospital basically told me to bottle feed her.. So I did.
I look back now and wish I had more encouragement to breastfeed and will definitely try harder with my next child.

I gave formula because i simply could not hack the pain of breastfeeding even though i wish i had persisted with breastfeeding, Formula was a last resort for me
