  • I had an epidural and forceps too :) I would say the contractions before my epi were around a 5 then the epi itself was about an 8 then it was pain free until they actually pulled her out with the forceps and i would rate that a 10 as i actually felt like i was slipping away to die :s Really traumatic experience that lol!!!

With my second i had a normal birth I think I would class the contractions at 5 going up to a 7 when i was about to push and the actual pushing an 8. I didn't mind giving birth the 2nd time but when the midi started pushing on my stomach to get the placenta out i kicked out and swore loads- that pain would defo be 10!!!!

  • mine was about a 5. maybe a 6? mine wasn't too bad, i was quite lucky! my baby was 8lb 11oz but i had no stitches and i just had gas and air. i have a high pain threshold so that's most probably why but most of the time i was talking with my boyfriend and midwife, listening to my ipod and my midwife was giving me toast and hot chocolate lol! the last set of contractions are what hurt but the rest i found ok :)

  • Mine was awful, a deofnate 10!
I had gas and air until i could cope, i demanded an epidural, around 2-3 hours of having an ep i started to feel the pain again, they were calling me a liar, it got to the point where it was unberable again, and i needed gas and air.
They wouldn't give me it, the midwife was horrible, she went off shit and another came in, i told her about the pain she lifted me up and asked if i was hot, id been complaing that i was freezing and i was shacking for ages, then she told me the ep was coming out of my back, the painkiller was going in then coming straight out my back in result i wasent lying!
By then they said i could push, and it would be too late for a second ep but they were lying it was atleast 2 hours after that i had my daughter.
I had problem's pushing, so i had to have forceps, with no pain relief they said there was 'no time'
The pain of forceps was unberable, i wasen't there in myself it was like i switched off, and the whole time i was screaming they were telling me to be quiet, i had to be cut twice and i was stitched for over and hour. It took over a month for them to heal as they were stitched too tight and got infected. But through all that, id go and do it again for what iv got now :)
    Sorry abit long lol

  • On a scale of 1-10 I couldn't tell you, I don't remember the pain and I don't know many people that ever do, yes I know it hurt but when your baby is born and they come straight on your chest (plus messed up on the drugs, i had 3 doses of pethidine & lots of gas n air) but when your baby is put on your chest its like the whole time you've been in labour and the pain is wiped away from your memory. I'd do it again and again, that feeling is amazing!
