I just got my sure start grant today
... You have to apply at 11 weeks before your due date so around 29 weeks and you have to be either on job seekers allowance or income support. then get the form signed by your midwife for proof of your pregnancy then hand it in the job center to process it x I think you have to be 16 and over to claim btw

@fruity1992 I am over 16 but I do not know how to get job seekers allowance or income support because I have never worked :s

@lulumummytob If your in full time education I think they sometimes consider that to be a reason for being unable to work. Go onto this link and complete the process and it should say what you may be able to claim: https://www.dwpe-services.direct.gov.uk/portal/page/portal/ba/lp
You can choose to have exact estimates of how many £ for whatever you may be applicable for or simply find out what the benefits are.
