MORE HELP PLEASE!
Fair enough we have our counicl's to help, but my council waiting list is so long that it would take me ages to gain a home, they shopuld do more for young parents, the only way i could gain a house with help would be for my mother to say she was going to throw me out of thr house and theyd put me into a bnb until they could find one, not the type of thing you would want from your child is it.
Im not homeless and im not going to be, we need more help not just for single mams for familys to get on the feet too! Not all this paying over 1000 to move into a property that is through an agency or a private landlord that wount do your fixtures on a home, i wouldnt do it again
Hiya, i have been in a similar experience. When i found out i was pregnant, me, my partner and his mother went down the council to ask about housing etc...and was told, that we would be put on a list, but nothing could happen until baby was born...When my son was born, we went back, and asked them if there was a way to get a house quicker as we were living in a 4 bedroom house, with his family (6 adults, 2 babies and a dog lol) and that there was no room at all! We were told the only way to go higher up on the list was for My partners mum to fill a form out, to say that she was kicking us out, therefor us becoming homeless...Sounds horrid, but was done. We were offered at B & B 40 miles away in peterbourgh, which was useless, and they would not fund us money for petrol to get my partner to work and back each day etc! I kept pestering the council through telephone calls, letters and direct visits up there, to pressure them, which did eventually work, as exactly 4 weeks after i had my son, we were offered a room in a hostel. Which we took- wasnt ideals, but that way we were put at the top of the housing list, and made a priority. Nearly 8 months later, we were lucky enough to get offered a house through the bidding system! The worst thing was, that i was assulted in there, one evening, by a pikey girl, who was selling herself for drugs and what have you. The council couldnt give a shit!!! Which was disgusting!! Also before she was in there, we had a heroin addict, which we threatend the police with to remove her, as council counldnt care less about!! We couldnt afford to go private rented, as we wouldnt have enough money to live once bills were payed etc...ALL IN ALL, COUNCIL ARE SHITE! THEY SHOULD LOOK AFTER THERE OWN, BEFORE FOREINERS!!

i'm afraid i'm in the same boat as you
i have recently talked to someone from birmingham council for some advice and she said the same to be, write in a letter from my parents saying that they are throwing me out
i'm not impressed at all because like you i am not being thrown out i would just like more space so that my baby can grow up in a house/flat that i can call my own and not my parents.
i am currently looking into finding another way around it but if i find anything i will write it on here for you and anyone else who is having a problem with housing

I know what you mean, I can't have my girl at home so we need a place, and though she's still in hospital she should be home in a few weeks and I haven't got anywhere to live! I went to the council the other day and they said it should take about 4 weeks for them to update my details until I can start bidding for properties... I've been offered the mother & baby unit but I don't want to be surrounded by perfectly healthy babies when I have a tiny one that might be on oxygen when she gets home
