Leaking amniotic fluid?

I'm 38 weeks and 3 days.
I've been feeling rough all day. for a few days, but VERY rough today.
Like it's the time of the month. Achey and heavy and rubbish.
I've been noticing when I stand up I "leak" a little fluid, at first I though it might just be cause the baby is low down and putting pressure on my bladder. But I just came across this tonight that I could be leaking amniotic fluid. If so, is it dangerous?
I always imagined waters breaking would be one sudden gush of water all over the place.
Bit of an icky subject I know.

  • your waters can brake by either, a huge gush. or a slow trickle - which is what i had. if you ever think your waters have broken (which by the sounds of it yours have) you should go straight to hospital, because after the waters have broken it can cause infection. hope everything goes well! take care. x

  • @Ameliamajors take @Grace-xo 's advice and call your labour ward as it does sound like your waters have broken and you can get an infection if they're left too long. The hospital probably won't let you go too long with your waters broken before trying to hurry it along either! Aches can be mild contractions too so it does sound like you could be in labour. Good luck !!!! xxx

  • If its achey down (below) sorry 2 b rude =, but u could also b dialating to ? as i went into my labour ward in pain and achey down there and i ended up being dialated but at 1st they told me if was probably an infection but i was 1cm dialated and i thought i was because it was the same feeling as when i was 3 cm dialated with my 1st, they ended upinducing me there because my baby was small but not as small as they thought lol, my cm;s showed 32 when i was 39 weeks

  • @Ameliamajors - You have to go to the labour ward. They will examine you and tell you whether your waters have broke. If your not already in labour they will induce you soon because of the risk of infection. Good luck hun xxx
