I've had to buy blackout curtains and shut the downstairs curtains at 6pm so they have an hour of semi darkness down stairs, that way they don't create when it's dark upstairs as it's not a sudden change.
) just to reassure him everthings ok.
He could have seen something that scared him or might just not be tired, we have 30mins wind down time. A friend told me to try it, no tv and just cuddles or a book then straight into bed and within minutes they're asleep! I used to let them watch cbeebies bedtime hour then go up and read a story and they would be asleep by 8 but now they're always asleep by 7.15pm....Try comforting him loads (of course you will anyway
Another thing to check is his teeth....tegan never wants to go to bed when she's teething so i put her in there for 5 mins then go in with teething gel and as soon as i put it on her she lays down. Hope this helps a little xxx

I think he might be testing his boundaries! Especially at that age, my daughter has always been a brilliant sleeper and when she hit two she started waking up in the night again... at first i thought there was something wrong as she never usually does it.. but it started becoming routine to get up in the night with her and I wasn't getting any sleep because of it and neither was she...
So I persisted with controlled crying for a few nights... just going in her room every ten minutes or so when she was screaming saying: 'Heidi its time to go to sleep now, goodnight' and going back downstairs..
I know how hard it is but if you keep up with it then it will hopefully work!
Good luck! xxx
