Is your foetus on facebook?
You can now list your unborn baby as a family member on Facebook. New changes to the site mean parents-to-be can now add an 'Expected: child' field to their profile. However not everyone is impressed. Some users have branded the development ‘weird and creepy.’ Others are worried advertisers will use the info to target new mums. What do you think? Odd idea? Or adorable addition?
Meanwhile, a new test could help save the lives of babies born with heart defects. Researchers used an infrared sensor to scan oxygen levels in the blood of 20,000 newborns. The simple, quick and painless test caught 75% of the most serious problems.
Hot weather reminder!
Keep an eye on room temperature when your baby is asleep. It should be between 16-20ºC. Check how hot your baby feels by placing a hand on their tummy, or the back of their neck. In warm summer weather, your baby may not need any bedding – but otherwise use lightweight blankets or a baby sleeping bag. It is ok to use a fan as long as it is not pointed directly at your baby.
