Gingerbread: helping young, single parents

Blog Image

There are many parents who are parenting on their own, but it can be difficult to find out all you need to know about child maintenance, about benefits or childcare, and about legal matters such as arranging contact with the father of your child or registering the birth. This can be even more difficult if you're a young mum or young dad, knowing who you can talk to about your thoughts and your feelings without feeling that you're being judged.

Here at Gingerbread, we work with, and for, all single parents, young and old, to help them deal with all of these kind of things. We have a freephone Single Parent Helpline (0808 802 0925) that you can call from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and until 8pm on Wednesdays. It's free to call from landlines and from 02, Virgin, T-Mobile, 3, Orange and Vodaphone mobiles.

So if you have any questions about being a single parent, why not call the Helpline and speak to one of our advisors - they'll listen to you, they can help you sort out any problems and give you some options about making the right decisions for you and your family.

Or you can look online which has lots of information on all these issues as well. See www.gingerbread.org.uk
