Who said babies cost a fortune

Blog Image

Last minute bits and pieces were brought this past week, I've got a brand new cot and mattress up and it looks so beautiful I just keep staring at it, I've also discovered the National Childbirth Trust have nearly new sales in loads of areas and I went to the one near me and got so much stuff, and it is pretty much new baby bits and some very little worn baby stuff, the amount of clothes I managed to buy, the little toys, and I even managed to buy a new rocking horse a bit young for it, but it was brand new mama's and papa's and was only £5 and I know I'd never see one brand new at that price again.

In all I spent the last of my Health in pregnancy grant on stuff, there, and  I also thought long and hard about Christmas, and what I want to get her, and I decided to do a photo album with pictures just from Christmas for when she's older, and to buy a few little bits because no doubt she'll not be to fussed, and I've asked others for mummy for stuff she'll need next year I can get in the sales and if they want to buy something not to buy clothes as she has far to many. Thanks to ebay, boot sales and gifts, who says young mums can't spoil there little ones J

I'm proud to say that I've spent very little and  got so much, I've spent myself only £250 maximum, and that's filled her wardrobe, got her enough nappies for a while, enough wipes, toiletries in double, moses basket, changing matt and changing unit, toys, a £100 towards a cot, baby bath and bedding sets and that's thanks to finding bargains.

So who said a baby costs a fortune to get ready for If you don't buy all new things only the new things that are needed and stock up on special offers it's easier then you think to get prepared.

  • If you join up to baby clubs for free and bounty packs give you vouchers which come in handy in the UK

  • Totally agree! I bought diapers while they were on sale - half price - when I was pregnant, and I have an 8 month old I have never had to go out and buy diapers for yet.. we are just hitting the last box now, and I have 2 bags of Huggies left (don't like them.. prefer the Pampers!) Also wanted to bring to light that in North America we have toooooons of coupons for baby stuff available (not sure what the situation is in the UK!) ... so I very rarely have to pay full price for diapers, toiletries, formula or baby food! And if you shop around someone almost always has a sale on the product you need :)
