Looking round labour ward

Blog Image

This week's been pretty hectic, with my last scan and the amount of appointments I've had, but I finally got a chance to look around the labour ward, and the reality set in a little more, I think I was the only person the midwife kept asking If I was ok, I felt scared and looked even worse. Seeing some of the rooms, and the theatre were they rush you in an emergency and all the stuff they use, the needles, and the gas and air, just made me feel a bit funny looking at it all.

Luckily I've been discharged from having scans finally, which is nice, I've had to be scanned every two weeks for ages now, and the relief of knowing every things on average or better just made my week J the midwife I see at the hospital was so happy when I said I wasn't coming back because she knew how hard it'd been having to worry all the time for silly things but know I'm finally allowed to enjoy my last couple of weeks.

  • I looked around the hospital with my 2nd, was a different hospital to which I had my daughter in and I hated it. Went away seriously considering a home birth, reason for it was only one of the labour rooms had its own bathroom all the others had to share!! I was so ill with my 1st during labour, was stuck in the toilet alot that I thought I would be the second time. I wasn't and I loved the hospital in the end. Totally forgot everything I saw when I was actually there. Mum_05_08 is right, once that little baby that you have made is placed in your arms everything is forgotten, even the pain you just went through!!!

  • teresacharl is right, it'll all pass you in a rush and you won't remember seeing any of it at the time.... Both my births were hard and complicated in their own wee way but I loved it.... nothing beats the feeling you get when you are given theat tiny wee baby that you managed to make soooo perfect :)
