How not to be so tired?

Okay I am 14 and still go to school, I find it so hard to get up in the morning and when i get home from school i always need to sleep for about 2 or 3 hours to be okay again...has anyone got any advice?

  • Don't stand up when you can sit down and don't sit down when you can lie down!

  • I was the same at the begginging of mine - like I am a really light sleeper but I was soooo tired that I could fall asleep with tv and lights on! I found exercise helped me - only light like going for a swim, I also found eating more fruit and veg kept me more awake. Plus the obvious go to bed early but must be bit harder for you when your at school. Good luck :-) xxx

  • I was the same age as you with my first and went to a young mums school. It used to tire me out so much but they were quite lenient seeing as alot of us were pregnant, if we needed a nap we could and if we needed to come in late or early then that was ok so long as we caught up on the work. The only thing i can say to you is power naps really are great lol. Nothing would keep me awake no amount of iron, green veg, red meat, exercise, orwill power helped the only and best thing was to sleep. Obviously as @KittyBoo said go to sleep early and take short naps. Maybe your school could sort you out a special timetable? Why don't you ask to arrange a meeting to suit your needs? Sorry I can't be of more help!!!

  • Im guessing your pregnant? I was exactly the same hun but in the end my school gave me a home tutor who I saw for a couple of hours at lunchtime each day. How far gone are you? xxxx

  • There's a liquid iron formula out called Floradix - for more energy and vitality. It says that women need a sufficient daily supply of iron to help keep them feeling energetic - but sometime diet alone may not be enough. Our bodies need iron for the formation of red blood cells which transport oxygen to all body cells. Insufficient iron levels are often the reason for feeling tired all the time, having pale skin or brittle hair and nails. Women require more iron due to blood loss during menstruation or increased blood volume during pregnancy.

This is when Floradix or Floravital can hell. It's a non-contipating liquid formula with Vitamin C to help increase iron absorption. Available from health food stores, Holland & Barrett and selected pharmacies nationwide.

  • I was exactly the same, always knackered! falling asleep half way through the day, im not so bad anymore though.. as I go to bed alot earlier now then I used to. But back then, I was working full time and I literally would be falling asleep on my lunch break in the staff room lol but my manager is lovely so she understands. And when we werent to busy she would let me go home and rest. I would deffo go and have a chat with the appropriate person, and see if you can work something out. All the best. xx
